Who Remains the Same?

Hebrews 6:18-20
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Here the word immutable basically just means unchangeable. What can be better than a God who never changes or lies in whom is found no shadow of turning. More than that these cannot be silenced, muted, or otherwise invalidated by any. Nor can the immutable thing be transferred to any other, save the one the sender intended. So, it seems that God’s promises unchanging and sure, he cannot lie. He swears by himself for there is none greater and none else besides. Who better to change and comfort a life than Christ Jesus himself. Perhaps you know friends and family on earth who are but shadows of the greater and more eternal.

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

See, a consolation is also what is known as a comfort. It is something nice to have as well as to keep. So, it remains to be seen that God loses none of us that come to him on faith simply trusting in none other than himself. He is not just a promise of something greater or an eternal truth. Rather he forms a comfort and a refuge itself. How many of you know these as nice places to rest safe from the fears and fighting within.

God is like that for his children, all the time, for so is he our good Father far better to us than any else on earth. See, it’s almost like being alone in the darkness or crossing a lake. He’s a shelter in the darkness and a friend to the friendless. Yet when the water is raging outside, he pulls us down with him sheltered and asleep. It appears then that where the anchor is, little else can wake.

Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

So too the soul having found anchor in the eternal Friend himself will soon find that nothing will shake. Notice those little words sure and steadfast if you will. As faithful as this friend so too is he without an end. For this can you trust him as he only offers you himself. In this then his promises he will keep. The reason he can promise such then lies beyond the veil. In olden days the veil, as in the temple, hid holy things from prying eyes.

You might yourself know of a veil that stretches out across the skies and keeps the things of eternity hid bottled up inside. Only he can enter in, for he himself as God knows what lies beyond. What can be seen then is little else aside from this. Christ becomes our high priest and forerunner too. Basically, he knows what passes through and can promise you his world for he alone is God, friend to all the helpless and downtrodden. He is the helper of all that freely seek him for he alone is God.
