Who is Perfect
Hebrews 10:1-5
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
The law is referred to as the shadow. If the goodness, blessings, and grace of God conveyed in his son were shown in a shadow that would be known as the law. The law highlights how perfect he is. His gifts that come from him are like him, good with no shadow of evil according to 1 John 1:5. Blessings that are tainted with hidden evil or oppression may be from the devil. Service to the law brings death and guilt to those who live by it. Before the law they are judged; they cannot fulfill its' demands in their imperfection.
For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
This is why the animal sacrifices had to be repeated. The animals were not a permanent sacrifice for sin: although without sin, they are lesser than man. The animals brought as a sacrifice were insufficient to remove sin permanently. Note the imperfection of those who draw near to the perfection required by the law. God is so holy that the Israelites could not approach the mountain containing his presence without fear of destruction according to Exodus 19:12. Perfection demands sacrifice. Christ is the fulfillment of the perfection found in the law. Those who worship the law become judged by the standards its' perfection demanded according to Romans 2:12.
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
The requirement of the blood sacrifice is met in Christ. Are you worshipping Christ or the past echoes of the law? The sacrifice of Christ's body requires our life to be lived for him in 2 Corinthians 5:15. God desires not sacrifice or offerings according to Psalm 40:6. The price was already paid lest Christ be called a liar in 1 Peter 3:18. This is the answer to the Catholic practice of transubstantiation and the legalist living by the law. Christ was of the world but not in it by 1 John 2:15 standards. By principles of ownership, the world was made by God and thus was Christ's. It was made by the Father from nothing and therefore was the Son's. The body made for him was already his. Do not act like you can surprise God. God had known before time began the sacrifice required from him. Thus, the body referred to in Hebrews 10:5 before it was prepared was also his. His goal was to do the Father's will in Hebrews 10:9; the Father's will was his will. As such, it is our duty to do the Father's will also. The Lord's Prayer is our request. "Your will be done on earth as in Heaven" as in Matthew 6:10.
