Whose Armour Do You Have?
Ephesians 6:11-13
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Think of how your earthly parents and guardians do not want you to run into bad situations and get hurt. That would be no benefit to either them or you. God is much the same way. He does not want his children, his warriors, or his creation in danger of getting hurt. Thus, the whole armor of God protects you. It is not a half or even a little. It is a whole kit and kaboodle on purpose to protect you from danger. So, the presence of danger speaks of a common enemy. We will see more of him later. But first let us put on our armor. Without it, things can get rather dangerous out there.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Here we see that some superhuman armor is needed because of the enemy. Now I do not want to say that it is because of their superpowers. Rather, they have the ability to disguise themselves exceedingly well. You could say they hide in plain sight if you will. Usually they are found in the places you would least expect it. See, the enemy might be found in places of power and influence. These are places yet invisible to any that casually looks. Sure it is not a pleasant thought to have to face an unseen foe. Nor is your enemy of any human sort as we will later find.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
That is why keeping your armor on at all times is very important. How silly would it look if a warrior one day took off his clothes and ran about the battlefield. Being so unclothed would leave him easy pickings for the enemy. Appearing without his armor would make him lack too. Then it matters not where the enemy is, still yet partially unseen. Since we have seen the reason of the common enemy, the time has now come to stand. It might be hard to think about wearing all that at first. The armor looks fearfully big and heavy, that is true. Perhaps that is why we need the Lord though to help us bear out burdens and straighten some things out.
