Way of the Power
And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
Genesis 37:5-7
And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
Genesis 39:2, 5
And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
12 And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.
Genesis 48:11-13
The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
Genesis 49:26
For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
Joshua 14:4
And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,
2 And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,
3 And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer; and the goings out thereof are at the sea.
4 So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.
And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.
Joshua 16:1-4, 7
Next up is Joseph, who had in times past administrated well the power of the cup. Remember, when his brothers came before him in Egypt so long ago. They had been brought there due to famine in the land, it said. So, they came in to find Joseph seated in a very high place and they also bowed down, just as his dream had said. Isn't it funny what happens when we let God do things in his time and his way. The results are far better than any we could have hoped for ever ourselves. Just think what would have become had Joseph been mad with his brothers for selling him off. As the story goes, he had been sold into slavery once, for all he had said of his dreams. Some of us sure have a lot of dream don't we, of being rich and famous and all else besides. Here Joseph had but one dream though, and it was something God had wanted to give.
The answer might have been a long time in coming and sure was delayed. In all his waiting though down in the pit, the prison, and the land down below, Joseph never forgot the God he once knew. When his brothers came in, Joseph was ready to be kind to them. First though, he gave them a test. The cup of his father, Jacob, was to be given to the youngest, Benjamin. At the same time though, it also was the same cup that everyone else wanted. By Joseph taking the cup and sticking it in someone else's bag, he proved himself to be a ruler as well as a judge. Not only was he all these things but a good one as well. For this then, God made his dream come true not only that once but also forever in the future. Should Joseph and his seed but remember, these too would find themselves in much the same place. The two children of his, Ephraim and Manasseh would later find their place as part of the tribes both within and without, although mainly right in the center. Notice their location if you will of being right in the middle of everything. They even grabbed the Levites for a free stay in their cities and also safekeeping.
