There Was Wings

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;

Hebrew 1:9-11

Last time we had left off with the ministering spirits and flames of fire of the Lord. How often are some of us like errant flames of fire ourselves, burning brightly of our own accord and so carried off. Herein though is seen the right relationship of such as in the text. So what if our God is in all things holy and by extension righteous all by himself. The righteousness then is just what he does for so are his ministers made after this fashion. Perhaps though the issue is not the holiness of God and the lack thereof in ourselves. Sure, the good book says that without holiness no man will see the Lord. So while we're all lost in and of ourselves with nothing that could possibly save, our God comes walking on by. Perhaps we're like that blind man or the beggar lost and in need of a home or stuck with no other way out. So too do we cry 'Jesus thou Son of David have mercy on us.' How God's mercy and love is yet infinite my friends. Just as he is God all by himself so too is he in all things contained. Sure, he loves righteousness and hates iniquity. It's just who he is for it is not in his nature to change. Could it be though why he had to send forth his Son. So that when he comes passing on by, he can have mercy for he is not looking at you. Rather he sees naught but himself. That God in himself is all he had to offer or ever to bring. Yet could it be a gift that we esteem so small, that of giving his all. Now we know that our God came to make peace through the blood of his Son and so bring us to God. But at times it sure does not sound very peaceful in this old world below now does it what with the spirits and fiery flames and all. What if some should do after the manner of Isaiah 53 and so go their own way. Well, that is just what he has given the oil of gladness for. Perhaps it is almost a picture of some who have gotten stiff from sitting and disuse. So now are these in need of some anointing indeed. Oh, but it is for more than that, is it not, my friends. Might well you be in need of some healing and cleansing instead to get us out of our own way. For it is his we are standing in. Best to get ourselves out of his way before he has something more he rather would say like Psalm 133:1-3. See, the anointing is needed to fit us for future service, by cleansing the old out and letting the new come on in. Remember how too as in the parable of the wise virgins who had forgotten their light that this is useful to keep replenishing that. Then by staying close to the Lord will you never lack his supply. So too does this oil do more for it spills outwards even as the unity kept among the saints. As shown in the text, possessing this oil sets you apart, above all the rest of those without something more. Just as in Aaron's case, it spread down the beard, upon the shoulders, and over the clothes. Herein is seen the sufficiency of God's supply. It never runs out and always is more than enough for any trial we must face. It's power to keep is beyond any other even that to supply. So it keeps you very well, more than you think, begin to imagine, or ever could find. For just as the heavens and the earth were once made, so too will out troubles soon pass away. My, what good news it is indeed to rest simply in this. Your troubles have an expiration date and when the Lord calls you, you are headed on out. Just as he has appointed to roll them all up, so too will you find an end. Maybe it is not the end at all but rather a beginning for his glory then to appear. Could it be that is where your faith made sight is seen right there at the end of all things. Now maybe your situation and mine his hands have not made. Some of us are in trouble all by ourselves and by our actions do stay. Yet how many know when you have the power of God on that thing, it will soon fall. The image given here is that of a garment made old with time and decay. It seems some moth and rust have gathered upon it and so have the thieves broken in just to steal. So too does the zeal of his house, once laid on a thing start eating it up. Look now at this everlasting garment for a moment with me if you will. Is it not a robe of his salvation that has clothed your life and mine. So when the Father looks at you, he sees only himself dressed in his righteousness before time began. For therein is found the power and anointing and purpose needed to straighten all things back out.
