The Weary

And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
Malachi 2:15, 17; Malachi 3:1
Here we find the principle of marriage spoken of in the text. I know, I know, you’re a bit too young for that right now. So a certain woman named Anna of Luke 2:36 once thought before her marriage and after that widowed. In these days and times, marriage can come to almost anyone who keeps an open mind. Perhaps it isn’t always in the right ways or at all the right times. However, it’s not about what happened but about your response. No matter how this woman felt, she never let it deter her from her purpose of serving the Lord. In fact, it tells how she served her whole life in the temple speaking to people in prayers, and watchings, and fastings much like Paul who spent his whole life in search of the deep. Perhaps it might not make much sense to you who have never loved or missed anyone much. Then again, for those who have, it can be a rather difficult pill to swallow. Regardless of that, let’s see what comes next in the text. In the beginning at the creation of man, he created them male and female, made in his own image, one. Thus in him is the form of the Godhead likewise found. You know the order oft-repeated of “Hear o Israel, the Lord our God is one.” Whether Father, Son, or Spirit these three all agree. Never has there been a moment in time when he last lost track of himself nor been made any less. For this cause then whether male or female these now appear. I know some have used the order and the confusion that followed after the fall to do what they would with the world. Then too are there some who are captive, not knowing the order of making until it’s too late. How then does this apply to a husband and wife but for all to live in harmony as it appears. Now that is not to say that faith is merely license for all men to sin. Far be it from me in this or any other else would not the judgement of God now have entered. It is for this cause then that I tell you these things both “the residue of the spirit” and the some “godly seed.” In this it should be seen that the only safekeeping of souls, spirits, bodies, whether the young Ror old alike comes from his Son. Is he not the most faithful and true. Does it matter to him that in the darkness and confusion that came with the fall that some have erred and strayed from the truth. Believe me, it very much matters to him. Else he would not let these off in hopes of their return to repentance. It is just like we saw once before. The priests were there on the altar but they were not of him. Still though they were there to be found in serving the Lord. In this is he long-suffering not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. For this cause though do some cry out for justice to be heard. Still others wait patiently for the deliverance found. In the absence and the lack though, more are in the habit of perverting the just and making the table of the Lord to be an offense and a reproach spoken of to be seen in the text. In this way the weariness is found not that service to him is some horrible chore as you remember once before. At no time has his servant been left barren, destitute, without reward, or lacking the Lord. But to call good evil and evil good, I mean that’s just not of the Lord. Then going back to Anna as we saw at first and to the scene to which the Lord came. See, God refuses to abandon his people. He will not leave the scene without having settled the score. At times you might think he knows not or does nothing yet that is when he most does. In all this, God is coming back to his people. It’s his house and so he rights our wrongs and settles our scores. Then too he speaks truth to all who will listen whether through the priests who went rogue or his messengers sent. Perhaps you may know some who have an awful lot left to say. At the end of the day, the Lord and his message is all that remains. As we trust and obey he helps us walk in his way. Let’s follow him to see where he goes next.
