The Portion of Priests
Leviticus 7:31-33
The priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the breast belongs to Aaron and his sons. You are to give the right thigh of your fellowship offerings to the priest as a contribution. The son of Aaron who offers the blood and the fat of the fellowship offering shall have the right thigh as his share.
The Lord's provision for his priests is depicted in the process of the offerings. The priests take their portion after the Lord. They dedicated their lives to serving in the temple with no other occupation but to make intercession for the people in Hebrews 7:25. God allows the priests a significant portion of the offerings, not to sell in the black market, but to feed them, their family, and any other such as the foreigner and the strangers who found refuge there in the houses of God. Revelation 1:6 states that we have been made priests unto God. God provides for his people in Philippians 4:19. Despite the situation in which we find ourselves, whether offered up in various situations, in distress, in atrocities, and in adversities as it were to God sometimes to the point of death, he remains faithful in 2 Timothy 2:13. Notice the parts given to the priest. The breast and forleg portions of meat varied by the type of offering; generally, the consensus was given for their portion. How do these portions apply to us today? When Christ came the old things passed away and all things became new in 2 Corinthians 5:17. He fulfilled the old order as the perfect "Lamb of God" taking "away the sin of the world" so that we could have perfect communion with him according to John 1:29. This is the comfort of God. In spite of what you go through, He said "I will never leave [you] or forsake" you in Hebrews 13:5. We are left with the presence of God. Even though God can remove all else of his blessings, material possessions, or ask you to go to the stake yourself as a martyr to be burned, he himself is love. A portion of that love that will never leave despite any difficulties you face today.
