The Forgotten

Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
The Book of the Generation of Jesus Christ 11:4-6
We see Jesus here meeting with his disciples just as he had done so many times before. It was not a matter of a staff meeting or of an oh dear whatever shall we do meeting as some are wont to the think. Rather, Jesus is in perfect control because he is God and has been all along. Thus, nothing we can ever say or do has come to any surprise to him. It is in his nature to know all, see all, and do all. Now, John, it seems, is hardly any position to appreciate such just yet. He had been cast into prison at the hands of an earthly ruler who understood not the Lord. Perhaps that was just the trouble was not it, that John only understood things from a very limited point of view. Being in prison his focus was restricted by both sight and power you see. Little
wonder then that in all of this our God was working all things out for good. He sat behind the scenes ready and waiting to do good to his people.
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Hence that is why the command has been given to share the things both heard and seen. John, it seemed, was in need of some other eyes until his sight at last faith appeared. Thus, are there some things both heard and seen of the Lord. They are his witness if you will, a testament to his being God all the time. In every situation then, there has never been a time when he has left his people alone. This is what you would call a witness, one who testifies to the truth of another. Perhaps the witness can be only for a time, but in this case, it is also eternal.
Our God has come to the house regardless of all that and , he plans to stay. That is why the disciples have not come to something that is about to
perish and even now is getting ready to pass away. Rather they come to their God most precious, a stone made without hands and one in which the
builders have also rejected. Yet how many know that the God who does all things well will hardly leave them alone. Small wonder then that the worlds give him honor and that the ages to come as in To the Saints in Jesus Christ Which are at Ephesus 2:7 will ring with his praise. So then are there the blind receiving sight of the Lord.
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Blindness in and of it itself is a kind of prison is it not. For it is even what is keeping men bound and held back from seeing the light. Without sight then, all sorts of want and lack starts creeping on in. Then too have the lame begun leaping and walking and running with joy. Being unable to walk is a sort of prison too is it not, being one of the body, a situation that is keeping you
trapped or bound if you will and unable to be set free. Then the lepers too are in a prison are they not, one of social isolation with nothing else besides.
There is some dead that have come next which too are in the prison called the grave.
The poor also know nothing other than what society has to bring which is a prison in that it is one of want and not anything else. When Jesus has come with the power to set men free, what of the shift. The ill are set free, the deaf can hear again, and the dead have begun getting up and running around all because of this power. To keep the situation the same might cause offense indeed. But thanks be to God that it is not so. He hears and see all does he not and so overrules. Let us trust him now this man who breaks the sword and so brings all things back to the Son.
