The Body Prepared

Hebrews 10:5

Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;

Man's aim is to serve Christ in and with the body. This verse identifies Christ by a body. Yet he is more than the body given him or even that of the church representing him. He did not need symbolic ritual offerings but rather a living sacrifice of the body in Romans 12:1. We serve him with the body while we live for him; this state continues until the mortal "puts on immortality" through his power in 1 Corinthians 15:53. The works condemned in Revelation were all done in the body; therefore, those who did such will not inherit the kingdom of God in 1 Corinthians 6:9. These have "a form of godliness" yet deny "the power thereof" in 2 Timothy 3:5. The power of Christ transforms. When your soul has been saved by him, you receive his Spirit to guide yours. Then, you will serve him with your spirit for he has freed you from the law of sin and death. Your bodily actions and your life will display whose your spirit is. You will serve him as he lived. When he has finally freed you from this mortal life, you will serve him fully. You will be made perfect in Hebrew 12:23, as the angels of Christ in Heaven serve him. You will know him as fully as you have been known by him as 1 Corinthians 13:12 asserts.
