The problem is that some languages know these verbs by other names. There are also present, past, and future tenses too. The tenses tell when the verb happened. Think of them sort of like time stamps if you will. The only difference is it's really quite impossible to know the difference between the words without knowing to which language it belongs. The tense present sounds something like this.

It indicates something that is happening right now. Therefore, the sentence would sound something like this:
Cat sits hat bat.
