Sewing Cushions

11/10/2024

Perhaps you have seen cushions before. They are those lovely things that are easy to sit on. You can find cushions in several ways. First, they can make up the bed or sofa or lounge area to sit on. If not, you can always put them on top of the floor. Either way, without doubt they make life that much more cozy. In days of old people recognized the value of adding a little comfort to their lives. For this, they made a large sack out of cloth sewn up on the sides something like this. The size of the cloth determines how big the cushion will be. Also, you might not need it to be very thick. Thin cushions also are just as comfortable you might find.

Let's say this is the cushion filling.

See how adding more layers

doesn't necessarily make it more

comfortable, now does it?

Looks very nice, doesn't it? Make sure to sew tightly and close to the cushion so the inside doesn't slide. Now what to stuff them with? Back in the old days, people would use straw or old plant matters that had since dried. Since that might be a fire hazard in our day, not to mention the smell and the cost to one's comfort and dignity, let's not try that okay. You can also use feathers, but then again, it takes a lot to finally make. The other thing you can use is foam. Foam is wonderful, now all I need to do is simply find the recipe, or directions on how to make it. Other ideas are also old worn-out clothes and other fabric scraps that are clean of course. What will you try stuffing it with at home?
