Origin

- Found in lower Europe, India, and Arabia respectively

- Saffron crocus species

Preparation

- Whole flowers presumed edible

- Flavor, food color, relieves inflammation, reduces swelling applications

- Internal use recommended

- Prepared through mashing of flower parts and adding of heat

- Doses of 100mg daily thought safe for extended time periods

- Not to exceed 5grams due to toxicity reactions

- Other effects include nausea, vomiting, and sleep

- Higher doses linked to uterine contractions in pregnancy

- Combinations with spikenard for best results
