Peace of God
Philippians 4:4-5
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
This passage says that your moderation should "be known to all men." Sometimes, you must put Christ in the driver's seat and take out yourself as in John 3:30. There is a reason for all this, because "the Lord is at hand." Moderate yourself not your neighbor, nor anyone else. Take control of yourself because of Matthew 25:23. If you cannot govern yourself, how can you expect to govern anyone else when God promotes you to a greater level spiritually and physically.
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
While you are waiting, praise him. I will praise him in the hallway until I have my breakthrough. I might be waiting now, doing what I have with very little. I may be a woman with a mite as Paul says in verse three of these women who helped him the Gospel. Look, in Mark 12:42 she gave it to serve the Lord. All she had was given to God; she kept none for herself. Her whole life was poured out in offering unto him. When you have no husband or man to lead you, and you only have yourself a mite then give it to Jesus. How much more should not people who have, praise and serve him. Your praise determines your service. How you serve him in the little determines the matters of much. That is how you moderate yourself and what little you have; praise him in that. What he has done for you will be known to all men. See, your moderation is "known to all men; the Lord is at hand." This is how you can be in a situation now. When he is finished, you know you will not be in a situation anymore. Like the Israelites of Judges 7:20 facing their enemy with torches and the Lord in the other, is he not at hand. This is how I can have my answer and my promotion now. He is at hand. I have drawn him out with my praise and now he is at hand. For does God not inhabit the praises of his people according to Psalm 22:3.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Verse six says, now that God is elevating you and changing your situation, do not stop talking to him or keeping him at hand. This is why the text says that your requests ought to be "prayer and supplication with thanksgiving." Prayer is how we are made known unto God. If we allow him, it is also how he can be made known unto us. There is absolutely nothing wrong with curling up in his presence asking him to speak. Now, by this I am not saying you should have an attitude of irreverence towards him. Does not God know what we need before we even ask in Matthew 6:8. This is why we do not ask over and over, per Matthew 6:7, like a child begging for a treat or the pagans repeating themselves. See, "the Lord is at hand." We surely will have an answer and a good result according to his will.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Psalm 23:7 says he leads me beside still water and green pasture for his name's sake. Even in the valley of the shadow I still have peace. Whether in a situation or not, I have his peace. This peace shall keep your hearts and minds. Isaiah 26:3 says God keeps those "in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on" him. Through Christ Jesus we trust to keep us from falling and to present us faultless before his throne. "The Judge is standing at the door" as in James 5:9. Genesis 18:25 refers to the time Abraham found that the Judge of the earth would do what is right. Such a thing is beyond our understanding. The Doctor of Psychology says I am crazy because I am neither depressed nor stressed. This is how I know I have the Lord at hand so everything will work out. I am not staying up all night barking at the neighbors and worrying other people. I have his peace guarding me because the Lord is at hand. Therefore, I will not think, react, or be feeling like someone crazy because I have the Lord. He is guarding me from myself. He will guard you and will help you to handle the promotion when it comes. He will help you handle the advanced position not only from yourself but also from them.
The guard works both ways. It stops things going out and coming in. This is why God can give me peace in the middle of a crisis because the Lord is at hand. The crisis will not hurt me because of his name's sake. You cannot understand something supernatural. All the scientists of the major universities keep trying to handle the word of God on Google. However, they cannot understand it for it is spiritually discerned in 1 Corinthians 2:14. The peace of God or the piece of God will keep me. No matter which way I spell that word, it is still God. Whether I have a little or a lot it is still God. This is why our relationship with him must be fostered for it to grow. You get in his presence and do not leave until you have your breakthrough. Why not be like Daniel and do not leave until everyone has had their breakthrough. Daniel 1:21 explains that he continued in the court of the king until the first year of Cyrus' reign who let the captives go home. Some of us are like Daniel's visions. We only come back to God's presence when there is a crisis. He is not an on-again off-again boyfriend like some of us are. No, our habit should be staying in his presence. We cannot expect him to stay in ours if we do not wish to stay in his.
