Now Go Away

Daniel 12:7-13

And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

This man clothed in linen had been speaking to Daniel. But now he is seen upon the waters lifting up his hands to Heaven. This is done so that all may know that our God reigns as in Isaiah 52:7. See, what was intended to kill and humiliate him has been turned into the ultimate triumph. Now, the crown of thorns has been forced onto the enemy's head; him who tried to make witchcraft prosper and by God's power lead many astray. Are not God's works just, true, holy, and mighty? There is a logical progression to be seen here between what has been done, what is believed, and the corresponding bowl, seal, and trumpet. These only follow out the actions to their logical end in judgement. It is done so that the world may know that our God reigns. Thus, the power of the holy people is to be scattered. Then will these things be ended. There are some beliefs he needs to teach us about himself in this process. Actually, they are areas in which Satan has challenged God. So here, he lifts up his hands as though in prayer. Hebrews 6:13-14 says he swears by himself for there is none greater. Furthermore, he bears witness to himself that it is true.

And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Could it be these times are as the seeds which fell on good ground, some on hard, and others on stony of Matthew 13:8-10. Matthew 16:18 says the power to God is to build the things of his church and his kingdom. We see several commands given here; the first is for Daniel to go his way. Hence his service to the empire and the Lord has been released. History is silent on the matter of Daniel after this point. I could speculate on where he went; however, the Lord intended it not to be known because it was Daniel's way however the Lord led him. There is purification and salvation seen in the trial. It may be like a fiery furnace time, but we walk through it as though beside still waters with our Shepherd Savior. To them he gives knowledge and understanding of these matters. However, those who worship their own way are characterized as wicked ones without understanding. This is one reason we have books about Daniel applied to the affairs of the last century in Europe or those promising the truth for a price. How many of us have tried to go our way rather than the Lord's? At the end of time, these words as told before will be made known for the days to come.

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

After the daily sacrifice is taken away and the abomination of desolations is set up, the time will be 1,290 days. If you wait patiently until the end, the time will be 1,335 days. Now, I am not going to try to explain these days. These are the Lord's and not unto men. As always, the time and their fulfillment are his. He has already sworn by himself of what they shall be.

Daniel has already said he did not understand anything the Lord had just said. I find it hard to believe that the sealing of the prophecies of Daniel took effect that quickly upon the writer of the book itself. But we see here Daniel was found in his own way. This is why the Lord told him to go his own way since he was already found in that way. Maybe that is the problem with many preachers and theologians to this day. They like to stand in their own ways rather than in those of the Lord; then, they wonder what on earth is happening.

But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Now, we see the Lord's plan for Daniel. God has a time appointed in Hebrews 9:27 for each of us to stand before him. Daniel's faithful service is rewarded here. To whom much has been given of Luke 12:48, will much more be required. Daniel is told to go his way until the end. There is appointed a time of rest for the people of God according to Hebrews 4:9-11. The tribulation period is meant to be a time of rest unto God's people. Revelation 3:10 shows it is not meant to try them as he does the wicked. This is why some are kept from the hour which is to try the world. However, they enter the rest of God through faith and fall short in unbelief. Unto this time has Daniel been appointed. He has a role to play in the end of times as God has ordained. This is the final principle which shows that God's servants are subject to recall at his discretion. Daniel may have thought his time was over and he was done. However, God was not done with Daniel. In his place he shall stand at the end of time for the purpose for which God has appointed. You might be asking yourself just what this place was: dreamer of dreams, revealer of secrets, counselor unto kings and world rulers, and a friend of God.
