Nothing Left Out

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.
6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth
7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
Isaiah 14:3, 5-7
My, look how good our God is. Perhaps some of you cannot see it just yet. But the same God who promised is there for our yesterdays and all our tomorrows. Indeed, he who holds our sins and our sorrows has taken note of our plight. See, as in 2 Peter 1:3-4, the same God who has called is also faithful to do it because of his nature and because of his promises. It’s who he is my friends. Herein is found the surety of the threefold promise being fulfilled. Sure, there remains a rest for the people of God. Yet more than that there is rest from your sorrows which have not been without reason. See, the text goes on to tell about the accuser of the brethren that has been thrown down. More than that, the king of Babylon has oppressed them along with certain other of the Lord’s enemies. See how it refers here to the sceptre of the rulers that have oppressed. Now are they little more than a spector. There might be little difference between a spector and sceptre. But here it is in name only when the Lord is their ruler and has been all along. Then too is broken “the staff of the wicked.” See, when the wicked rule the people mourn, yet this goes beyond ruling. Indeed, it speaks even to the Lord is my shepherd of Psalm 23:1. Yet these have not known of any such. Here God sees fit to tell more about it as seen in the text. Some might remember of … that told of the Good Shepherd and how he gave his life for the sheep. Yet here the wicked is seen as little more than a hireling which has smitten the people then ran away. Not content with that, the text says he did so in anger. Now the Shepherd may be smitten and the sheep scattered, yet at no time has he left us alone. No, not for a moment even while he gave his life for his flock. For of such is the kingdom as in Luke 12:32 which he now gives us. It is in his house, even now near to the hearts of them that believe. So the promises of God are true and in him yes and amen to the glory of God the Father. It’s okay little flock. He has also given rest from your fear. How many of you know that when God is for, none else can be against. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so indeed. Here though, it would take a lot more than being redeemed from all nations, tribes, peoples, languages, and tongues of the earth to cause song. For when God is the house and has defended his people, it is something few others can stand before. So does Romans 8:31-32 agree that the hard bondage and the servitude will soon be finished indeed, made nothing in the breath of the Lord. How much more should some of us rather find our rest in him today. For behold is he not the best keeper of his people that ever was. This is why we praise Him who was and is and is to come. How the ages ring with his praise and those yet to come speak of his name. So the tithe speaks to those that even now are preparing to depart or have some need of a little patience before the Eternal comes in.
