Made of the Building
Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
5 That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.
7 And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.
Jeremiah 41:2, 4-7
So often in this life we are tempted to complain that our God is not good when little did you know that everything lost, broken, and missing was being left off for the Lord. Notice how the disservice of man finally allowed it to happen. It came when man regarded the Lord least of all. Notice here how he does his own spirit warriors. Now by no means am I saying that this one was most correct in his form. That is to say, whether going around slaying the worshippers of God is good form whether these be with him in Spirit or truth then or no. Then again, it should be seen at what time the prophecies spoken had happened. Here the text says the slaying of Gedaliah preceded a time when nobody knew. That is to say, this man was brought up before the house of the Lord and none paid witness or allowed it to happen. Perhaps such forms a sad commentary on the state of the times. Then again, perhaps you would know how that attention paid to the Lord as in the times when king Uzziah had died, having been slain by the righteous, preceded his glory poured forth in the house of the Lord. Remember too how that King Uzziah in the times of Isaiah had approached the altar to offer strange incense that was all just for show. Herein then are two possible messages. The first of which deals with our God's glory being foremost having suffered none other to take still his place. The second deals with the unappointed being allowed yet to happen. Sure, not a sparrow falls without the Father and so is there a place up near his throne where its' maken its nest. For those of you who do not know, that is the protection of God that allowed it to happen. You can speak all you please of God's sovereignty up on his throne. He knows the end from the beginning that much for sure and makes all our days to praise him as well. But I can hear you now saying 'I just can't allow that to happen.' I know, you have your life very well planned out for yourself with scarcely room for the eternal to enter much less come down here from high on his throne. Yet how many know that in all this is there still seen ought of the Lord. See, such things are only visible when there is nothing left but the Lord. Notice here how those arriving from Samaria quickly joined him in death. They came at a time of distress when the house of the Lord had been long forgotten about sure. See how the shaven beards and rent clothes all speak of what had been given up for the Lord. These then in accordance with Mosaic law had brought their trials and afflictions in to Shiloh to pledge their service to the house of the Lord whether in life or in death. Just as the devil once had whispered on the mount of affliction that perhaps the Lord would have done well to cast himself down trom the temple and so to step from one place and into the next. So too is there a danger in bringing the false fire to the Lord. See, God judges all knowing so the thoughts and intents of the heart as Elijah witnessed before the day of the Lord. It is incumbent on us to represent him well and so allow not such a thing as this to have happened. Yet what are you going to do when it comes up in the house of the Lord. Look with me now for a moment at the false altars of Baal his disciples set up. Well, the text says the priests, really, though ones with their own purpose and agenda of trying to force something to happen. As though having the attitude then of Job that though he slayed me yet would I trust still in him not because of the situation that so has just happened. Rather all because he is good, all because he is holy and righteous still and in all things most just and so then the fullness. I can hear some of you now talking about how you cannot be filled with the Lord. Is it not difficult trusting him for something he allows still to happen rather than being filled with your own self, your plans, and your pride. Let me tell you, at no point in time have you been found wagging the Lord as some are wont with their tales of a sort like Job who once had been approached not for his doing wrong but rather for a right view of the Father such as it seems. So then does he make all our days to be bringing him praise and the devil himself so to worship from services not as his own habit of use. But for the fact that our God in being Shiloh himself had made up his building. So otten we sing in the church when he makes up his jewels as though some of us were in the habit of having gone missing or gone so long having passed so all our days as a tale that is told. In that day then when he makes up his jewels sparing those of his sons as those from any further testing or trouble. Someone shout amen in the house. Come on now and let us see the house of the Lord. Herein then do we worship him in spirit and in truth as those having made up the stones of his building. Do not you wish then that none of you left and how can you when Shiloh's soon coming to happen. Then at no time should you fail of his rest nor yet be alone as those without a Heavenly home of a sort. Is it not then our doubt in the Father that allows this to happen besides being straightened as of the building or his very own most precious as them having not been left off of the Lord. So then can you trust of being made up of the building as finally made one through his Son almost as the unity in the beloved once had been said. He is good, is he not if ever my friends. Though lost missing or broken for now so too can you trust it will not remain in the fold. Trust now and so being found to rest with our Lord and Savior of that great city whose founder and maker is God. It is almost as uncomfortable as this thing right here, is it not, this having left all to follow the Lord.
