Lost Things

John 6:39-40

And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Whosoever the father gives to me I will lose none of them. Might I suggest that to think otherwise is pure and utter nonsense. Here, the demonic and the saved alike rest. How else can you explain the demons sent into the pigs lest they also be tortured before their time. So, it also should comfort some of you in that time of trouble sent to try the Lord and in standing before the Father alike. For all who come to him shall in no wise be cast out whether in this life or the one to come. Could it be that is just the issue with the demonic and the swine. They chose fearing the Lord over fear of the Lord. Now what you do with the Son is another matter entirely and a topic for another day. Scripture makes it clear such a coming is, was, and always has been on the basis of whomsoever will. Then whomsoever won't as Pharoah found had his heart hardened. It just so happens that God in all his mercy, knowing the end from the beginning, is able to save his people a lot of time and knowledge by doing the drawing unto himself and separating also while he is at it.

So often man gets it twisted simply because they know not where God leads. The atheists talk about having no God. Yet the continued repition of the father with the lost son implies the existence of a shepherd. It is important to note that the Father is not just insanely babbling the same thing over again due to loss and grief. Still, he welcomed him back home with open arms. It matters not what happened back there in that pigpen. See, for all the father knows his son could have died in there. His living sure was riotous. Anything could have gone on down there neck deep in the mud what with the dangers from the pigs and the other hands. Now, I know some of you are not inclined to believe me at first. I can hear you saying 'but I kind of like it down there; the atmosphere and company is nice.' Sure, it might be wonderful for awhile. But are you not a precious thing worth more than even a pearl a woman clutches tightly. See, I once made the same mistake too. I thought I could help a pig and so I got down to talk to it on its level. Next thing I know it had charged and was about ready to tear me apart had the Savior not stepped in.

Perhaps you might have heard of a famous politician who once tried putting lipstick on a pig. Whether help or lipstick, it just does not work. So then, you rather ought not to cast yourself before swine. For this cause, they neither savor the things of God nor yet understand them being fit only to be burned. Herein you see the wandering problem. Sheep get lost no matter whether they be lambs or full-grown sheep. See, sheep do not possess automatic guidance like GPS or maps. They do not even have a herd instinct. They know only to follow the leader whether that be each other or just themselves. Yet the Father stands waiting to welcome his prodigals home. My, it feels good indeed after a long hard day with no end in sight. A long day of hiking, journeying, striving, and trying doing all that work for yourself. For in the end all that mattered is your relationship with God anyway. Still, there remains to us that was lost the welcome home and the Father's house.
