Living Soul

Genesis 2:7

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

See in the beginning, the creation of man. I will not now pick on the differences between men and women. For at this time when God speaks of one, he means also the other. Remember, from out of man's side woman came. Note here the clay form made with the dust of the ground. It is not so unlike that of the serpant, cursed to go across the dust of man for all time. See also, the breath that brings life. It is not so different from the very Word of God by which men live. So, this then, makes up the spirit of man. Hereby is the living soul formed. In the Lord's world, one and one does not equal two. Instead, it becomes something greater, more than the sum of all that was there before. Now I know some of you like basic things. So let me break this down for you. The form of man is not much more than that of the angels being greater in position; yet the lesser also was adorned with glory and honor greater than that of the former. See, the angelus shines in the glory of God. For such is their witness. There the angels of the little ones do always behold the face of their Father. I can hear some of you now saying, 'hop a little more slowly this time.'

Remember the breath which became the Word and also made up the spirit of Psalm 143:4. Here, the breath of life refers to the spirit and body alike. As some might say, it composes the essence of man. Now, referring back to the text, the angels are made spirits by the Lord are they not. See at this point the line between human and angel becomes quite thin. Nevertheless, a line does exist here indeed. So, what becomes of the returning dust then. When man passes, the body created returns to dust from whence it was taken. Sure, those believing shall ever be with the Lord in the end. But in the meantime, hippity floppity. I believe you are standing on the Lord's property. For countless millennia man has forgotten the advice of the ancients as what should have been commonly known was lost. This time I think I can just about make it without them. 'But that's terrible' some of you are saying. Is it really though. Next time you feel so inclined to tell the serpant to eat dust, remember you may as well be inviting him to bite you. Which is not an enviable position to be in I do not think.

Even should the Lord remember your frame and that you are but dust, what of the matter then. See, the mist before the presence of the Lord in the garden and the veil over the eyes today which hides the knowledge of such things. Yet Job 19:26 had it right when he cried though "worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God." For those knowing Christ, what a view to be always on the edge of eternity. One foot then is planted firmly in the dust, one foot on the ground, and the final one resting with the Lord.
