Lions of the Jungle

Lions are unique to their kind. They are a close relative is the much smaller housecat, though not quite identical. Lions eat a unique diet of whatever can be hunted or found. They roam the grasslands of Africa, and sometimes the deserts, hunting for prey. Though they would prefer to lounge about, these often have a set territory that doesn't usually change. Due to their prey's migration habits, it's not always static. Its' prey consists of a variety of things ranging from small animals to larger ones like zebras and sometimes even antelope. Rarely will it accept things already dead. This is because a lion lives for the thrill of the chase accompanied by one last, final kill. Its' role in the animal kingdom can be looked at like this. They could almost be considered policemen in the animal world. At first, their role sounds a little harsh.

Considering how well the other animals which are their prey can run, lions take out the sick, weak, or injured which cannot keep up. The family bonds of the lion are unique. The males like to band together and go hunting. Often, they have several females and cubs with them known as prides. Then the lions, male and female, will fiercely protect against any threats. The threats are usually other lions driven by territory and pride. Those battles can be quite fierce as the lions would do almost anything to protect their own. So too, when some are old and sick, these are tended for as long as possible rather than leading them to face the end. Their cry forms a guttural RRRRROAAAAAAAAA-RRRRRR often associated with them. They can also purr, chirp, and make sounds while they sleep that are almost like a snore.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
