Kept of God
Revelation 3:10
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
There is power to be found in the keeping of God. Whether you stay or whether you go, how many know that he can keep you through this old world below. There seems to be a strange connection here between the prayer of Jesus for his disciples and their being kept from the hour of trial. God does not send the test and trial to destroy you; rather it has come to purify those that are his and separate those who are not. The text says it comes even now unto those upon the whole earth. It might be here that he keeps you or still in Heaven. You might not understand it all right now. But some of you must just trust him a little bit more. So also must the disciples keep the Word of his patience. Now is not the time to be jumping into a tizzy, to conclusions, and to run screaming down the road. Those who believe in God trust that sooner or later all those hard times will turn out for good. You might not see just yet.
But one day you will look back on all that happened and say that God has been good. One day you will meet with those who wronged you and say thank you. One day they will be forced to admit that everything was turned around for your good. See, what God meant for good, man turned into evil as Genesis 50:20 says. Yet just because he's God, he turned it right back again. One day you too will praise him. You might not see it now, but one day soon you will. It makes no sense to be all bent out of shape and mad at the world. God says not to be like that. See how God can keep you from even yourself.
Some of you have yet need of patience. How many of you know this is not just strength to endure. Rather it has been given you to grow and thrive under his own mighty hand. So that in due time he will raise you back up. There might be a situation coming to your life or upon the whole earth. No matter what it maybe, our God can keep you quite well. Yet for a little while in the trial and the struggle must you also bear it with patience. Note that God promised not to save you from the hour of trial altogether. Rather he promises to keep you within it. This is some keeping power found here with God. Even if you must go through, even in the midst, yet our God is working. Herein is he left for you more than a portion.
