Hello and welcome back for another look at the scriptures. We will be looking at the book of the law of God 24. Now this will be particularly important because of the fact that not everything is as you think it is at this time.
See, when it comes to the law of God versus the law of man, oftentimes they are two entirely different things all together, as it was back in the days of the flood when every man did what was right in his own eyes back in the days of Noah. Our God, though, had said that just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the coming of the Son of Man, before the Son of Man comes in his day, that it will be just as it was in the days of Noah when they were eating and drinking. And they knew it not until the flood came and swept them all away.
So therein is seen a nonsense that is meant for Gods people. Sometimes it is not meant for God's people. It is an unfortunate byproduct of the nonsense that we so often live with here ourselves.
Yet when it comes to the law of God unequivocally, it is always as he says it is, nothing more, nothing less. And so that the nonsense that we bring in of the world of flesh and the devil is only of sin. It is not of so thus it is a law of man, as Joshua found out, and not as the law of God at all. Not saying that there are not some nice laws and everything that man has written, and that some of them make an awful lot of sense at times, because they sure do. But then again, there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. And so seeing that you should take heed to do these things, lest you should slip from them at any time, lest your foot should slip.
And like it says in the Proverbs of Solomon, to remove your foot from evil. Like Joshua found going over with the children, with the tribes, and as they passed over the Jordan River, they would mark where their feet would step in the Jordan, and they would take stones and place them there as a memorial, that they were not to pass back that same way again, without a remembrance of what their God had done for them, in delivering them from back where it was on the other side of the flood, to where they stood now. And so let us go down into the text. And so as we are speaking of the law of man, let us pick up in verse
For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed. And the Lord drove out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land.
Therefore will we also serve the Lord, for he is our God. See, there was a house of bondage that it spoke of in Egypt, and just as the law of man attended toward the path thereof and the ways of death, so the Proverbs of Solomon had found out that there is a woman also whose path leads down to the grave, and in fact there is a gates of hell mentioned in particular in the text. And then if you look again closely, there is another thing where the virtuous woman of the Proverbs of Solomon 31, she praises her husband in the gates, or he praises her in the gates, because of everything that she has done, because she has done a good to him. And the husband knows that it is for good and not for evil, and so thus there is a setting up in the gates of the city mentioned that distinctly correlates with Manoahs Prophecy also, which talks about the man that is set up in the city and is blessed therein of the Lord and is revered and renowned by all the people that pass by. And so when you talk about the law of man, it induces some other people along with it also, the Amorites in particular, or people who loved. If you think of the rude word Amor, a love, a love to do your own way, to go your own way, and that is as all we like sheep, like Isaiahs Vision said 53 I think, said all we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
He was distressed and he was despised and afflicted, but yet he opened not his mouth, who shall declare his generation, and you know that haunts me still to this day. The fact that none among us can recite the full generation of God, because he came in the likeness of man, born of a virgin to redeem them that were under the law, that we that were under the law might receive the adoption of sons whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Sure, it is not exactly what the text would state, but yet you should hear that the Lord is a good God to his people, and just as so he is holy, so is he also righteous, and Joshua also found that out in his watch care, or watch the care over the people, just as God had appointed him there for a time.
And Joshua said unto the people, you cannot serve the Lord, for he is an holy God, he is a jealous God, he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If you forsake the Lord and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt and consume you, after that he has done you good, and the people said unto Joshua, Nay, but we will serve the Lord.
