By Faith

By faith in the Father,

Through faith in the Son,

Through faith in the Spirit –

Three in one.

Some brought down kingdoms,

Turned armies to flight,

Shut the mouths of the lions,

And overcame the fight.

More were beaten cruelly.

Still others were slain,

Sawn, hewn, and torn apart.

But Christ was their gain.

All are our examples

Of how we should live.

In all things some were victors.

Others they had to forgive.

By faith in the Father,

Through faith in the Son,

With faith in the Spirit

Their forever home won.

The Old Story

Tell me the old, old story.

I want to hear it again;

How God left his home in glory

To die for sinful men.

How he lived everyday

Sharing his will for us to obey.

When all was accomplished

He went to the cross.

Laid in the tomb in sadness,

Rose victorious over sin,

Went back to God's right hand –

Jesus, the Savior of men.

Then won't you tell me again?

I want to hear of his love;

Then go to a world that is dying

And tell them of our Father above.

Ripples

A ripple in the stream

Hints of rapids further on.

I wonder what my lot will be

In seasons not yet gone.

The stream grows deeper

As it turns around the bend;

It rushes, pushes madly on.

I know not where it will end.

In joy, distress, or trial

My lot comes from above.

It's safe to trust and rest completely

In my Father's hands of love.

To Buffy

Buffy is an old dog

And her years number thirteen.

But this dog makes memories

Wherever she goes.

When she's happy to see you

She'll wave her paws

And she'll be sure to have some tricks to do.

Buffy is a good dog.

I must close this poem

But thanks for sharing Buffy with us.

We enjoyed her a lot.

Traveling

Precious Lord,

My hand to take

Let me not

Make no mistake.

It might be just

A little while

To wander on I go

Through many a mile.

.

Precious Lord

Lead me onward

To Heaven's glory land

Bring me homeward.
