In the Days of the Priest

04/26/2025

5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

Luke 1:5-11

At this point, it looks like a situation doesn't it between God and man once again. See, there's always an issue isn't it when it comes to obeying the voice of the Lord. Though often times some of us would getting into trouble with the problems and trials of life. It's this perspective in particular that helps us make sense of the issue. Sometimes service to God doesn't turn out quite the way that we thought it would have and the temptation is always on hand to think that God is somehow injust for our service to him. It's not that he doesn't reward them that digiligently seek him there at the end. It's just that when it comes to the end of your life you've got to wait an awful long time and your life's but the Lord's. At this point in time you're tempted to believe that God is as unjust as supposed. In fact, there's all these particulars given about the the length of his service and his life there in full. Even too there's the daughters of Aaron almost as though there were a woman that was busy in serving the Lord. Righteousness and blamelessness before God you see doesn't secure a good life any more than does service to him a place into Heaven. In fact, God knew all about where he'd come from and also where he'd been, that in the service to him hopefully there wasn't any sin found in his mouth. In fact, there's an execution of the office, a fulfilmet much rather though as unto men perhaps and not the Lord in the end. The Lord though really according to Matthew should've been the whole one that you're doing it for there in full. The barrenness though that happened was in a life well-lived for his Son. Then too there was strickeness and smitteness that came of the office just as in the fullness of time our God sent forth his Son. He's doing something in the situation isn't he of national refuge though perhaps there's some not percieving of it that's been come of the people. In fact, the whole nation also experienced these syptoms doubtless being so as like priest as also the people unto whom these had ministered. It's to be seen that the execution of man doesn't quite match up with the Lord's. In fact, whether without or within how well our God has knowledge of his people having been the one to whom these have prayed, that is unless you're in the habit of serving other strange gods as Hosea had said or even yourself as doubtless Zacharias must've been tempted ot think when he went in to offer the incense, a sweet smell of a life that was well-lived for the Lord though at times it felt a little too burnt up at times and so as well as awfully short. It's at such a time as this that our God has come into the midst. He's got a plan doesn't he and even so too he understands. I mean, how long had it been since the last prophet until he'd at last sent forth his Son or even an angel from there to the people announcing his presence still to be found with all men or even so too to be found in the land. My, it's almost as Ecclseiastes 1:2 would've said that there's still pleasures to be found at the hand of the Lord whether it's his right or no that is stretched out to us still. It's not for nothing then that the Scripture has mentioned a "vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity." It's almost a vanity isn't it not to have your prayers answered and to be waiting long and hastening for the soon coming day of the Lord. Though, when there's times in this life it's hard to understand it's time to turn our eyes once again upwards just to look unto him.

Understanding of Him

6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Proverbs 1:6-13

In fact, it calls for patience doesn't it these days that we're living in indeed and also a hope in his Word. There's not just a vanity is there then but rather a strength that begins and ends as with him. The trouble is though so often when it comes to the ways of man we get troubled and begin to think that our days have begun and ended without a trust in his Word. When there's no one else much rather other than him or the Father God isn't as good as supposed, the it creates that vanity mindset wherein there's nothing more that'll do without the Father in full. See, Solomon would've called it understanding a proverb as well as finding interpretation thereof just to be found at the hands of the Lord. It's one thing isn't it when he makes all our days please his name and it's quite another to be blessed and highly favored as the angel came and had promised would be when she brought forth the virgin. Then again when depending just on the ways of man also, for blessings and pretty much everything else this old world has to offer, it so happens that you'd have to rely on almost any other source of getting stuff beyond just a commanding the Lord. How well Solomon knew the fear of the Lord as the beginnings and the endings of the matter at hand for when he makes all your ways praise his name he also begins to make us walk in his sight. It's a beginning of knowledge then that he might come in as with in Job fully dependant on the calling of God. Thus is there the lack of all good things to be found with his Son for he isn't really foolish is he himself being made unto us wisdom that hee might become the firstborne among many brethren. Hopefully though having been instructed in the ways of the Lord, our confusion might cease for he's the one isn't he breaks the bow and shatters the spear and makes all our days but as an offering there for his name. Hopefully though the witness then of the Spirit is more than eternal having come to the house and got down inside and even so he changes the things that you see making it an instruction and a law not to be forgotten there in particular. Might well you wonder about this but when each one goes from strength to strength and so til each one appears before him in Zion, it seems indeed that you're in mighty strong need of the Lord. So too you might have need of some grace before it's all through. So too it will keep you almost as does a marriage covenant over the flock and the fold as a staying power more rather just unto him. Thus, he's your stability and the thing to keep your way free and cleansed as it should just unto him. Perhaps you don't understand it just yet the ways that he's said and that's just fine isn't it. Notice though as the preacher has said that when all is turned back into vanity without the light or the hope of his Son, there's hardly need of it anymore in the house of the One. For the God of the turnaround indeed has brought with him a might big sword for a reason that he might be called the firstborne among many brethren. Just to think though of the turnabout indeed were it not for the Lord as unto vanity have all these things tended like unto ourselves also as the dust also we went. Far better then just to hope and trust with him there.
