Half a Blessing

And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?

That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD, which am but dust and ashes:

Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.

And he said unto him, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.

And he said, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

I guess, Abraham is just now finding out about the thus knoweth the Lord. He'd had to have to get all those reports and then to go to verify it himself. That's why he's bargaining for it even now, isn't it, though not as some have observed that's not as though he's of the Levite in tribe. It's more of a Simeon to be perfectly honest or something that's similar. Then again, I'm not even totally sure if it's lesser or greater at this point in number or even in multitude. Some have observed that if Lot was altogether doing his job, he'd have preached Christ to the city until it repents. I'm not sure what in all that wasn't the case here right now perhaps in Abraham's mind of a sorts though more of a confirming what he'd heard thus far to be true. Though that's why he's God isn't it and just not then you. Abraham surely didn't need to know all the details though for the Lord he'd have already heard. In Abraham's legacy and maybe Lot's as well, it's hard sometimes to understand and easier still just to lose yourself again. These here seem to have an awful struggle between losing and gaining this old world to the peril of their immortal soul. Perhaps it's best to simply trust him and just his Word to do. Though I can argue strongly that this isn't part of the other group but just an expression of a servant who wants to stay his Master's hand or to understand it better what and all he's planned. With Abraham then there's some overlap between the two certainly and what and all the life he lived, constantly on edge, torn between greatness and the Lord needing to feed him all his Word.
