Filled with the Glory

Isaiah 6:1-4

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

Oh yes, we are going to visit Isaiah again in the throne room of God. There is one last thing to notice. As we revisit Isaiah's vision, we see God seated high on the throne. The anointing discussed before was for the appointing in the presence of God. The manifestation of God's presence is such that it defies logical explanation. The door posts and thresholds shook. The building is shaking. The house of God is smoking. However, nothing catches on fire or falls down. We have talked about this before in the appointing of Isaiah, but did we miss the anointing in the first half of the service? This is why I can walk into any Spirit filled church and see damages. Often, I find cracks in the drywall and the foundation is a little off. By God's power the house still stands. The presence of God fills everything from the building to the atmosphere. You will see his presence in the land of the living if you keep on believing he is who he says he is in John 18:6.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

Forget about King Uzziah for a minute. The Lord is more than seated on his throne "high and exalted." While he is seated, he has also been walking among the lamp stands of the churches of Revelation 2:1. When the time comes, he will approach him who sits on the throne looking like the Lamb who has been slain. He will take the scroll of authority, open it, and have his seat according to Revelation 5:6-7. The glory of God compels us. Isaiah saw him. God is in his position all by himself. He is seated on the throne. Note the train of God's robe in this verse filled the temple, yet there was place for people to stand. The temple is crowded with himself. There is still room for you to stand before him and for his angels to announce him. The train of his robe announces everywhere he has been. There is not a place he is not as in Psalm 139:7. This message is from the Father's heart to yours. You were made in his image per Genesis 1:27. His breath gave your body life in Genesis 2:7. By him, in him, and through him all things hold together as in Colossians 1:17. So, there is not a thing in which I do not find him. There is not a place I can go to escape from him as Psalm 139:8 indicates. If I had to repair that building he occupied, I would still find him there.

Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying

In the cry and the appearance of the angels is the glory of God. "The whole earth is full of his glory" because he is holy. Notice the temple. He dwells in a house not made by human hands according to Acts 7:48-49. How many times does Genesis 1:27 say, we are created in his image and in his likeness. When people look at us they see our Heavenly Father. Not only that, are we not his temple as in 1 Corinthians 6:19. The "earth is full of" the glory of God because he is God all by himself. He was God before you came along, and he will be God after you pass. Because he is God, he will sit on the throne is his own house; he will possess it to do as he will in Daniel 4:35. He will make sure his house does not catch fire or fall down because he is God according to Matthew 7:24-25. It may shake, smoke, or cry out, but because of the power and the holiness of God, the house is still here. So when you see it and cannot understand, the only proper response to make is that of Isaiah. He said, 'Lord send and cleanse me' in verse six and eight. I want to hear what the angels said one more time.

And they were calling to one another, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."

Now tell me again because I did not catch it the first time. Notice the seraphim. They cover their faces because of his glory. They cover their feet because of his power. They fly with two wings because of his purpose. Their feet tell where God has sent them. Under their wings are all the little eyes God gave them to watch over in Revelation 4:8. Their purpose is service to God. But they do not remember it because all they think of is the glory of God. They do it and they praise him. Their faces are covered for no one can see his glory and live according to Exodus 33:20. So they cover his glory which shows on their faces as in Exodus 34:29. But there is no hiding him. For he indeed is holy and fills the earth with his glory. Do you not see the glory on these seraphim. Still, they cannot get over everything he has done.
