Directions

And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle

Ezekiel 1:8-10

Notice how we talked about north last time. Here Ezekiel mentions the fact that these four living creatures each faced a different direction. It's almost like the four sides of the compass. Here, everybody stand in the middle of the room. Now, pick four directions and face them quick. These must be opposites, mind you.

                You there - north

-west                                         -east

                Stand like – south

There you have it. That's north, south which go opposite ways back-to-back from a central location. Then east and west each go in opposite directions from the center. Say if you have two in north south location. Now spread out your hands and arms far apart to make east and west. These directions tell you which way to go on the map. They can also be used to guide your direction in real life. But as I said before, using the north star can be incredibly tricky because not all stars in the sky are the north star and not all of them shine with the same brightness. It can be incredibly easy to get confused, especially during the daytime or in the rain and the weather.
