Desire
Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Notice how our God tells the man 'your desire will be to rule over' seen in the 'your desire will be to your husband' found in the text. This is in direct consequence of when Eve saw the tree was to be desired that it was good for food and would make one wise. So also, is this the age-old story of how something bothers me but nothing bothers my husband. To better understand that we must first see the two types of jealousy found in their natural habitat. There is sinful and Godly jealousy. The difference between them is the it is cute and the I would kill to have it of Cain. Between them then is the cross as of Matthew 23:37-39. In this other text it says "thy King cometh unto thee" meek and lowly riding upon "a colt, the foal of an ass." But the king has not just arrived. Indeed, he has been among the people ever since his birthplace entry at the temple. Even that was well regarded by all who knew him from the greatest to the few. His recognition stretched even from Simeon on down. So then, his arrival should have been no surprise to any. He was there all along. My God shall supply all your need is easy to say when there is food on the table and your belly is full. It is easier still to do when the bills are getting paid and there's plenty. Then when the house is full, the text looks amazing. But at times all hell broke loose around you and it looks like there is no one but God. Tell me what of it then. It feels like no more than empty words upon a page. At times it is hard to trust in God at all. But how many know the God that always keeps his promises. He promised supplies sufficient for all your need, and that is just what he intends to do. You might not be able to see it yet. Trust me, it is on its way. So he provides according to his riches of glory in Christ Jesus. Somebody tell me it is not a shouting verse right here. See the God who had so little while he walked here among men. So often he had nothing more than eternal life to offer and not even a place to lay his head. Come now, let us see ought of the Lord. It is the best cure for sinful desire that ever there was.
