Desert and Island Creatures

21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

Isaiah 13:21-22

So, we see here there are some wild beasts of the deserts. As you might well know, the deserts are those places where few waters dwell. It might be awfully hard to walk through them now seeing where there's nothing left. The point remains though, that some do, those who go on journeys from far away, the stranger, and those about to perish. There are some creatures that come here too and make it a home. These are mostly those things such as owls and jackals, and ravens, and the occasional scavenger creature. Sometimes the jungle creatures happen by here as well, but we do not speak of those in particular. These too just like the people are ill suited for life in the desert what with all the heat and sand and winds and all. Usually the desert is made up of miles of shifting sands with hills and valleys between. It is very deep and warm from the heat of the day.

Other things come here such as the creatures which find rest nowhere else. The other creatures who scavenge or hunt for their food will thrive here for these too get their food from our God. Sometimes at the desert oasis, there are places where the food grows and moves out in smaller communities away from the source. Other otherworldly creatures that live here include the elusive satyr. These contrary to popular belief are not just merely beings of misery but some rather misunderstood mythological creatures of many. As their name suggests, these enjoy a wide range of activities forbidden by most animal and human societies alike which leads them here to this place now where even the owls do not mind much.

22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Then too are there some wild beasts in the islands. These are those places almost surrounded by water, cut off from other lands. There might be a bridge leading to an island, sometimes maybe not. Regardless, the island is built for sustaining itself. The waters around should have plenty of fish and the island itself is filled with many animals of different kinds. Sometimes the men will come to the islands in boats or by some other means and make it a home. Yet when these do not, what you are left with are islands filled with wild animals from their nearest possible land sources most likely with some sea and marsh creatures mixed in. The reason for this is simple. The sea is filled with mostly water then salt. Some creatures prefer this and actually do rather well there. Either their bodies have adapted to be able to drink or else they are just very good at finding other sources of water and food.
