Beasts of the Earth
And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
Genesis 9:10-11
Usually, the earth refers to the whole kit and kaboodle. You know, when most people say the word earth they think of a big round ball spinning around through space. But it hasn't always been this way. Back in the day, most people thought the earth referred to a world flatter than a pancake or even a footstool of God on which to rest upon. You know, the top of those are exceedingly flat indeed aren't they. But when I say earth, I can refer to either the ground itself that makes up the land or to both water and ground together. Which one it means though, the text doesn't say. The fish inhabit the seas though just as the other wild beasts roam the whole earth.
Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
As seen before, the beasts of the earth are not to be confused with the fowls of the air. Therefore, anything that flies and has wings is entirely out of the question. Now all that remains is if there are some sea creatures added into the mix or not. Beasts of the earth then are things with four legs and maybe some tails that live over the regions of the earth but not in the sky or the sea. It really simplifies things, doesn't it?
