Andrew
Since we have seen the lay of the land so to speak, now let's see what becomes of the people. It's very good to learn the stories that lay in the lines or to see the powers as they move through the land. That doesn't mean anything though without the people that live in these places. It's almost like those you love and know. Without them, the motions of living are almost meaningless you know. Last time we saw the four origins of power in where they come from. In brief, these are heredity, function, and the place of your birth. The fourth origin then comes not from without but rather within. It's that thing by which you are born from above. Let's see if we can pick out the defining characteristics between the two.
Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
John 1:35-40
This example deals with two unnamed disciples who have since heard the Lord. The text says these were attracted by his, I mean John's, speech. One disciple's identity isn't really clear here, but the other is Andrew by name. After hearing John speak, their actions were swift, quick, and immediate with hardly any hesitation. These were so quick to find Jesus and follow him home. They were almost like our version of modern-day stalkers if you know what I mean. A stalker is just someone who follows you a lot only without being family or friendly. These though didn't want to be known like this, so they were quick to ask Jesus where he stayed. Their speech to him went something rather like this: 'Look Master, you look friendly so what of your family?' Now of the twelve months and with it their associated twelve tribes and the powers they hold, only two were quick to jump into stuff.
These two also liked to run together as we will soon see. Borne by their shared love for new friends, places, and even family, these were quick to bring home strangers wherever they could. In return for their dubious honors of being the first, we see Jesus was ever so quick to give them his home. Can you guess which of the three natural origins these two hold? Let's see, their function appears to be bringing the stranger back into their home. It looks like their natural function in society is that of hospitality or the kindness to strangers. More than that, these make sure people get where they're going. Do you know which of the twelve sons of Jacob these two would hold? It's okay if you don't quite know at first. We're getting there soon. It takes time to see what the powers contained in this hold. It sounds almost like Joseph and his sons have come back from Egypt and with them it sounds like there's Dan.
Now I'm not too sure on this, so we'll have to mark this resemblance and remember it well. It'll be useful later for sure. Already, I almost think we've got the issue of heredity down. Now let's see what's happening with issue of where they are from. The text doesn't say though, which means they have left all to follow the Lord. You must remember people came from all over to get baptized by John. I'm sure some even decided to stay and rest there awhile. What's going on with the last issue of where these are going or where God is calling them too? One as we will soon see finds someone else and brings him in too. Do you know what function these two will be? I think it's reigning and ruling with the Lord but time will soon see.
