A Spirit of Sense
Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
Matthew 12:22-23
Problem: Demonic possession with a senseless spirit
Symptoms: The person was neither bale to see nor speak. This severely limited communication with others and caused great expense to the person's life as well as those around them. More than that, the person's lack of sight and speech while still being able to hear required some to lead him around by the hand more than likely or wait upon him hand and foot. Therefore, social disruption also resulted. More than likely the person's life completely stopped due to being trapped or partially locked-in by the spirit but not entirely.
Treatment: The spirit and the person needed healing. Notice though that the person was healed while the text is unclear on whether or not the spirit who caused such was also.
Prognosis: Should healing result, Jesus makes it clear that such is immediate. The man is set free entirely with no further mention made of the spirit. So too were the social disruptions caused by the spirit cured. Notice the spirits effect on depressing all those around to the point they could not even recognize this man, themselves, or the Lord.
