A Probable

And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

1 Kings 6:38

Here we are now in the eight month of the year which is about as good as its' name. In fact, the name gives it away as being just that, a bull. On this point then, the astrologers and the Scriptures both agree. It really is rare that these do, but that makes this month key to figuring all the rest out. It's one of those things that if the end point is unknown, the rest should be reasoned starting with what is known. In this way, the unknown and the known meet up. Solomon, it seems, sure has been building on this house of God for upwards of about seven years now. Let's see, there's seventy weeks of Daniel and seven years of tribulation and so on and so forth. Isn't it funny how the things that shouldn't end up taking the longest. Perhaps that's our cue that something is just not right. The years then are what sets them straight, almost a cleansing as it were from the midst of God's house.

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

1 Kings 8:32

It is in the eighth month then that the priests both good and bad have been appointed to serve. Perhaps it was not always this way from the Levitical law-giving period on up. However, when man has entered the situation and with it their sin, it almost always certainly is. After Jeroboam, a son of Solomon, the kingdom was torn between two. It was a nation divided if you will between the northern and southern kingdoms as each one claimed heir to the throne. It seems that all the nonsense has finally hatched. There in the south, was the capitol of Jerusalem and with it the Levite tribe which claimed the true worship of God. Then in the north was Bethel, the capitol of all such worship, just as in the south. The only difference though is that dear old Jeroboam had brought back the calves of gold made in bygone days. It's been many a long year, almost since the time of Moses since any such had been seen. Unless of course, he had borrowed this nonsense from the other Canaanite tribes, which is almost certainly the case.

In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

2 The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

Zechariah 2:1-2

On down the line it goes, until the time of Zechariah, who was appointed prophet in the days of Darius, king of the Medes and Persians who came after in Babylon. Zechariah's time of the witness would have come at the same time as Daniel's as seen before in the text. What a time in which to live, having the prophets all writing at once. This month then, is the one of the servant, the one that lives in the house of the Lord. So are these servants, like the bulls, kept and tended well in the text. Only these are dealt with later for their transgressions both those good and bad.
