The Alls of God

11/02/2024
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

At the last as at the very first, we finally see all the true intentions of God. Yet here there remains to be seen something quite startling. It appears to me to be a convergence of all texts told of in Scripture. You know, when you are walking with God, it is a funny thing indeed how you begin understanding things like never before. As in Luke 24:27-32, so the disciples once found they wanted not for all instruction despite the fact that they had taken away the Lord according to Mary Magdalene. Here they were unaware on the road to Emaus walking and talking to a stranger who resembled the Lord. Indeed he did, for none knew him better. As he went along though, things just began making sense. Suddenly, they found themselves perfectly furnished and fitted unto all good works as in the text. Remember before we spoke of the doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction of God. How these are good for making up a whole man. Yet now we see how to use these tools as the Word has been rightly divided in 2 Timothy 2:15-19. Perhaps you have never wondered about their use, these all statements of God. See, the Word speaks of him and changes our lives into one of his image. Maybe some of you have seen children who resemble their parents by birth and by nature. Such is the case here. Now see how these come with the all power of God. At no time has Jesus left us alone, defenseless, and helpless in this old world below. Rather, he came with all power given him “in heaven and in earth” and also in Matthew 28:18.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Matthew 28:18

Yet what good is the power when you know not its’ purpose nor yet how to use it. See, it’s all fine, well, and good to tell the so-called great commission of the being sent into all the world. If the voice that sent you has no power behind it, well such is no use. Then too if the power behind it does not back you, that is also not good. Imagine being left for the defenseless, easy pickings for all who come in. Here all power has been given to Christ but he in his wisdom has chosen to send you out with it. Perhaps that means not that you have taken his own. But rather God in his wisdom will do all through you in spreading his Word as you go and as you are faithful. So too as he is faithful then again is the witness, even that of the power of God. Here we see Scripture with all power found in the text. It has been likened by some to that of a lion trapped in a cage. But when you are walking with Jesus how many know the lion is not kept in a cage. Rather he walks beside you open and evident for all who would listen. Nor has the lion of the tribe of Judah need for any to care for itself. Because it has sent you it must defend and provide for the sent as well as itself. That is why you ought to make so sure that the source of your sending and message is God. It does me no good to speak of my appointing and anointing though if all else is missing. So then the all power of all Scripture enables not only to go but also to live rightly and show someone else how to do the same.

Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

1 Corinthians 15:24-25

Notice here what the all authority does in the text. It stops imaginations, it puts down strongholds, it silences each mouth that all might stand before him. Not only is this a stand-before-him purpose but also a fitting up for his reign. For when we have suffered with him, followed him, gone for him, and been with him in all places, then also shall we be with him to reign. So does 2 Timothy 2:12 also testify unto the purpose wherewith we have been sent. Herein is the all authority seen in God, even the Father who with all sent the Son. So also with this same authority have we been sent and therein should we walk. For it is even that of the certainty of knowing the sender, the author, the finisher of our faith who alone is good. So also is there some rule seen in the text which is not of himself. How he has come to make peace with the blood of his Son. Yet should it not be enough, there is still the taking captivity captive seen down to the putting down of all men. Such would be assistance indeed if we had some spiritual and physical authority that came with all power. It is what makes the difference between walking with God and saying 'let the lame now be healed' namely that of the Lord. So then it follows the all things of the Lord that all Scripture operating in all power with all authority results.
